DESCRIPTION:
This one-day course covers the nature and risks of fire at work and provides expert advice in fire safety, fire
evacuation, and the theory and safe practical use of portable fire extinguishers. The course can be tailored for
every type of workplace, including offices, factories, retail outlets, hospitals, residential care homes and schools.
AIM:
Create an awareness of the nature of fire.
Give participants the necessary understanding of fire safety principles and procedures. Enable them to carry out
their allotted role during a fire evacuation and to ensure that they are confident to use portable fire
extinguishers in the workplace when safe to do so.
OBJECTIVES:
On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of their role as a Fire Warden/Marshal.
- Appreciate the risk posed by fire and the devastating effect it has on a business.
- Understand basic fire safety principles.
- Comprehend the common causes of fire.
- Undertake and organise fire evacuation drills and appreciate the importance of efficient evacuation procedures.
- Recognise the various types of fire extinguisher and how to use them.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Any person within the workplace who has a specific responsibility for assisting
in the emergency evacuation of a building.
REQUIREMENT:
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
APPROVED BY:
The Institute of Fire Engineers.
DURATION:
One day (1000hrs – 1600hrs).
Lunch provided.
